Khajuraho
(22/23 Jan 1998)

The erotic carvings on the temples at Khajuraho give the place it's fame.
Erotic or not the level of detail is quite magnificent as these pictures clearly do show.

The temples are 1,000 years old and built over a 100 year span.
The statues and carvings cover every inch of every ceiling and wall.

This is Ganesh (the elephant god) minus a tooth and a bit of his trunk on the left.
And the steps up to one of the temples shown on the right.

This is just one of the temples seen as a whole.
With a slightly closer level of detail shown on the right.

A Long drive again heading East towards Varanassi on the river Ganges itself.

These shepherds decided to join us for lunch.
The man on the right used his pole with a curved blade at the top to walk up a tree. He stuck the blade in and just pulled himself up.
