Delhi
(11/12 Jan 1998)

New Delhi is the Capital of India and it's third largest city.
The seat of government is south of the centre with it's imposing buildings and very wide streets.

Connaught Place is the heart of the city and the surrounding area is a great place to shop.

The Mahatma Gandhi museum is well worth a visit.
The plinth on the right marks the place he was shot.

At 243 feet the Quator Minar is the tallest minaret in the world.

The site itself is fantastic, an excellent example of Islamic art at it's best.
The picture on the right is a detail of the gate you can see on the left.

Started in 1193 it was enhanced over the following centuries and warrants the 15 Km trip out of town.

This wedding party was connected by cables to a truck with a generator which followed behind.

An early start and a very long drive down to Pushkar (just east of Ajmer) at the bottom left of the map.

The camels are a sure sign we are now in Rajasthan.
We lunched just outside Jaipur overlooking the lake.
